Guided Tour of Spaccanapoli & the Veiled Christ

  • 233 reviews | 1,558 travellers
The guide Carlo Zarone made the difference. Naples is beautiful (it goes without saying) but if whoever accompanies you on a visit to the city does so with undoubted preparation, utmost professionalism, intelligent sympathy (and I would go on and on with endless positive adjectives...), all of this makes you love it even more the enchanting, colorful, welcoming Naples. Heartfelt thanks and a big thank you to Carlo, our very nice guide.

Guided Tour of Spaccanapoli & the Veiled Christ

After meeting in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo at the scheduled time, we'll embark on our guided tour of Spaccanapoli, one of the most famous and historic streets in Naples. Did you know that this ancient thoroughfare divides the old town into north and south? Our guide will tell us fascinating facts about the street's history as we explore.

During our walking tour of Spaccanapoli, we'll discover many charming piazzas and admire the façades of a number of important churches. Passing by the narrow streets and alleyways, we'll reach Piazza San Domenico, home to the San Domenico Maggiore Church. After learning all about the basilica's history, we'll make a stop to get our strength back with a cup of delicious Neapolitan coffee.

Continuing onwards down Spaccanapoli, we'll see the Church of Santa Chiara and the Church of Sant'Angelo a Nilo, whose striking red architecture and statue of the Nile God are sure to captivate you. The guide will reveal the symbolism behind this iconic statue!

We'll then reach the Sansevero Chapel, where we'll enter inside to experience one of the highlights of the tour: seeing the famous statue known as the Veiled Christ. This is one of the most popular works of art in Naples, and is considered one of the greatest sculptures of all time thanks to its impressive realism and detail.

Our guided tour of Spaccanapoli will then take us through Piazza San Gaetano, ending at Naples Cathedral.
