Free Walking Tour of Naples
Your free walking tour of Naples will begin at 10:30 am at the main entrance to the Castel Nuovo or "New Castle", as this Medieval fortress is ironically known. Also called the Maschio Angioino, or Angevin Keep, the 13th century fort has seen wars, lootings and even papal elections.
Follow your expert English-speaking guide deep into the historic streets of the city, ready to be amazed at their legendary past and spectacular monuments. Not far from the castle, you'll find the Teatro di San Carlo, which served as inspiration for many other opera houses in Europe.
One of the most famous squares in Naples awaits you on your next stop: the Piazza del Plebiscito. Admire the impressive façades of the San Francesco di Paola Basilica and the Royal Palace of Naples, two of the city's most important monuments. You'll hear all about their history as you stroll around this enormous plaza.
Delve further into Naples' history next as you enter the Quartieri Spagnoli, or Spanish Quarter, a lively district of the city. Wander down Via Toledo and explore the Pignasecca Market to get a real feel for authentic daily life in southern Italy.
The Church of Gesù Nuovo, with its curious textured façade, and Piazza San Domenico await you for the final stop on your route, before your free walking tour of Naples comes to end at 12:30 pm next to the Obelisk of San Domenico.
