Free Walking Tour of Naples

Our free walking tour of Naples will begin in the centre of the city. First up will be Piazza del Plebiscito, where our guide will tell us the history of the monuments overlooking one of the largest squares in Italy: the Royal Palace of Naples and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, a beautiful example of neoclassical sacred architecture.

Following our expert English-speaking guide, we'll cross the nearby Piazza Trieste e Trento, where we'll admire the historic Teatro San Carlo and the elegant Galleria Umberto I shopping arcade. We'll soon reach the Piazza del Municipio, home to real architectural treasures like the Palazzo San Giacomo, the seat of the municipal administration, and the famous Maschio Angioino, the Medieval castle also known as Castel Nuovo. From here, we'll admire the nearby Port of Naples and its surrounding landscape, dominated by the imposing silhouette of Vesuvius that stands out on the horizon.

Afterwards, we'll explore Spaccanapoli, the ancient street that splits Naples in two. We'll visit some of the most important monuments on the street, like the Gothic-style Church of Santa Chiara and the Baroque Church of Gesù Nuovo. Continuing along Via San Gregorio Armeno, a historic street known for its many shops selling nativity figurines, we'll make a stop outside Napoli Sotterranea, the entrance to the city's infamous underground tunnel network. Don't forget, if during the walk you want to stop for a rest, have a coffee or taste a Neapolitan dessert, no problem - the guide will be happy to take us to the best local places!

We'll also visit the Cathedral of San Gennaro, dedicated to the city's most beloved saint, before ending our free tour of Naples after 2.5-3 fascinating hours.
